Hippo Campus share “Buttercup” music video

Today is a busy one for Hippo Campus. In a few hours they’ll be kicking their winter tour in Bozeman at a sold out Rialto, while just this morning we’ve unveiled a new music video for “Buttercup.” The video, animated by the incredibly talented Noah Farrar and Dolorondu, is a kaleidoscopic sugar high of color and energy that gamely matches the landmark standout.

Meanwhile, Bozeman isn’t the only show that’s sold out on this upcoming tour. Massive rooms in LA, Brooklyn, Seattle, Chicago and the band’s hometown Minneapolis are sold out too. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket already, do send us pictures. If you’re in one of the other cities, stop waiting and scoop up your tickets now. They won’t be around much longer.

Western Scene share new single “Strange But True”

Today we’re thrilled to announce a new addition to Grand Jury, LA’s Western Scene. Yesterday the 405 unveiled their new single “Strange but True.” “Conceived by frontman Tom Pritchard as a joyous fall into the unknown, ‘Strange But True’ is a euphoric track with a heady edge,” says the 405. “There are traces of a few styles running throughout the song — I particularly could hear something that could only be described as ‘Shins-esque’ — but all the pieces meld into one chugging shot of aural endorphins.” Today you can get those aural endorphins wherever you stream your music. More soon.

Hippo Campus “Warm Glow” EP out today

Today is the day. Hippo Campus’ warm glow EP is now available to hold in your beautiful hands. If you ordered it from us or the band, you should have your copy now (how you liking it, btw?). If you didn’t, you should be en route to your local record store to snag a copy right now. Seriously, stop reading. Unless you don’t know where your closest record store is. In that case, our friends at Record Store Day have this handy store locator here. Use it.

Meanwhile, our dudes are currently out on the road touring across the great states of America. Full list of shows and tickets over in our tour section. Bonus: if you go, you can also get that gorgeous 2XLP version of landmark and warm glow up there. And if you don’t, you can still snag it in the GJ shop, where we also just launched – several years late… – shirts.

NE-HI share new single “The Times I’m Not There” (feat. Jamila Woods)

If it’s not obvious, we’re pretty big fans of Chicago around here. So it warms our windy city hearts to announce this new single, “The Times I’m Not There,” a collaboration between our very own NE-HI and Chicago soulstress Jamila Woods. It’s a reworking of an LP1 NE-HI cut with all new verses and melody from Woods. And if that’s not enough, the proceeds from the streaming and sales of this single will be going to Chance The Rapper’s Chicago-based arts empowerment charity, SocialWorks. Get it here.

In other NE-HI news, the band is out on the road this fall with Chad VanGallen and Whitney, before capping off 2017 with a NYE show w/our boys Twin Peaks. Check the tour section for all dates.

Haulm share new single “Settle”

Following on the heels of the Brooklyn duo’s well-received debut, “They Came Along,” today Haulm has officially shared a new single called “Settle.” Premiered yesterday via Earmilk, the downcast pop song is an eerily lit showcase of JT Norton’s haunting melodies and Reed Kackley’s minimalist production. Think Rhye meets Burial, or a woozier Francis & The Lights. More from these guys soon.

NE-HI share “Long Time” from new limited edition 7″

NE-HI will begin slinging a new super limited-edition 7″ on the road tonight at their Red Bull gig in Chicago alongside Whitney. So instead of making everyone outside of the Chi wait, we’ve released the B-side, “Long Time,” a day early as well. Spin it. Smile.

If you pre-ordered the 7″ from our shop or Bandcamp, it should be on your record player already (or about to be ASAP)! And speaking of gigs, NE-HI is set to hit the road again now. Check the tour section for a full list of dates.

Twin Peaks share “With You” / “Just Because” from “Sweet ’17 Singles”

They’re baaaaaack. The penultimate installment in the Sweet ‘17 Singles Series arrives today. This time we’ve got the Clay-led A-side of “With You” backed by “Just Because,” a disheveled, drum machine love lament from Cadien. The tunes also come with another big announcement: next year our Twin Peaks will be hitting the road to support the one and only Portugal The Man throughout February. Check the tour section for all the dates.

Haulm share new single “They Came Along”

This is “They Came Along” by Haulm, the latest member of the Grand Jury family. Their debut single is a minimalist, downcast delight, and only the first in a series of songs we’ll be releasing over the coming months. Earlier this week The405 had this to say:

The duo’s debut single, ‘They Came Along,’ is one of the year’s most thrilling tracks to date, all done without overloading the listener with sounds or gimmicks. Make no mistake, there is plenty of ambient noise – dogs, bird chirps, etc. There are also an array of warm, analogue textures and synths by Kackley filling in a rich sonic foundation for Norton’s somber, ethereal vocals.

And yet, it is only during a brief stretch near the end of the almost-six minute long track that the track’s various components really stack on top of one another. Instead, listeners are treated to a slow-burn of a dance track, packed with moody mediations on isolation and life. The end result is an utterly compelling listen, the sort of debut any group would dream of making. They say you only have one first impression and Haulm has not wasted theirs.

Get this one wherever you stream music.

Twin Peaks share “Blue Coupe” / “On The Line” from “Sweet ’17 Singles”

Today Twin Peaks are back with another Sweet ‘17 Singles Series installment. This time the Jacky D-led “Blue Coupe” is on the A-side with the twinkly Cadien hummer “On The Line” backing it. Subscriptions are sold out, with the exception of a handful more than band will be surprise dropping, so keep your eyes trained on their Twitter or Insta for the next heads up from the band.

In other news, tickets are going fast for the two remaining nights of their three-night New Years stand at Thalia Hall in Chicago. Don’t snooze.
