Twin Peaks share “With You” / “Just Because” from “Sweet ’17 Singles”

They’re baaaaaack. The penultimate installment in the Sweet ‘17 Singles Series arrives today. This time we’ve got the Clay-led A-side of “With You” backed by “Just Because,” a disheveled, drum machine love lament from Cadien. The tunes also come with another big announcement: next year our Twin Peaks will be hitting the road to support the one and only Portugal The Man throughout February. Check the tour section for all the dates.

Haulm share new single “They Came Along”

This is “They Came Along” by Haulm, the latest member of the Grand Jury family. Their debut single is a minimalist, downcast delight, and only the first in a series of songs we’ll be releasing over the coming months. Earlier this week The405 had this to say:

The duo’s debut single, ‘They Came Along,’ is one of the year’s most thrilling tracks to date, all done without overloading the listener with sounds or gimmicks. Make no mistake, there is plenty of ambient noise – dogs, bird chirps, etc. There are also an array of warm, analogue textures and synths by Kackley filling in a rich sonic foundation for Norton’s somber, ethereal vocals.

And yet, it is only during a brief stretch near the end of the almost-six minute long track that the track’s various components really stack on top of one another. Instead, listeners are treated to a slow-burn of a dance track, packed with moody mediations on isolation and life. The end result is an utterly compelling listen, the sort of debut any group would dream of making. They say you only have one first impression and Haulm has not wasted theirs.

Twin Peaks share “Blue Coupe” / “On The Line” from “Sweet ’17 Singles”

Today Twin Peaks are back with another Sweet ‘17 Singles Series installment. This time the Jacky D-led “Blue Coupe” is on the A-side with the twinkly Cadien hummer “On The Line” backing it. Subscriptions are sold out, with the exception of a handful more than band will be surprise dropping, so keep your eyes trained on their Twitter or Insta for the next heads up from the band.

In other news, tickets are going fast for the two remaining nights of their three-night New Years stand at Thalia Hall in Chicago. Don’t snooze.

NE-HI

NE-HI share “Rattled and Strange” music video

NE-HI are back with a video for “Rattled and Strange,” the A-side from their freshly-announced 7″, available for pre-order now. Directed by Weird Life Films (who you may remember from their video work w/Peaks or Mothers), the clip is a loveletter to pool playing, Chicago, and The Color of Money. Watch above now, and head over to the tour section to check out the band’s upcoming dates.

Little Junior

Little Junior share “Accolades” music video

We’re growing again! Today we announce the addition of Toronto’s Little Junior to the Grand Jury family. The snotty power-pop quartet has shared stages with our buds FIDLAR, Jay Som, The Courtneys, and more, all the while staking out their own spot on the four-chord musical landscape with an unshakable Buzzcocks-ian energy and queer frontman/lyricst Rane Elliot Armstrong’s odes to alienation, self depreciation, lethargy, and every other shade in the emotional rainbow.

Culture Collide debuted the music video for “Accolades,” the band’s first GJ single, earlier today, and it’s…fucking insane. No, really, watch it. We’ll be officially releasing the single later this week, and a full-length at some point next year, so get familiar now, people.

And if you happen to live on the eastern seaboard, you’re in luck. Take a stroll over to the tour section to catch the band’s upcoming gigs!

Surprise! Today Hippo Campus release warm glow, a three-song EP that features “baseball,” a song fans have been clamoring for for what seems like an eternity. But that’s not it, the dudes also announced another lengthy run of headline dates for early 2018. Kinda blows our minds we’ll be seeing them at Brooklyn Steel here in NYC next year. Upwards, onwards, rinse, repeat. Dates in the tour section here. We’ll have a pre-order of a limited edition one-sided 12″ with a gorgeous etching on the B-side very, very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Twin Peaks share “Come For Me” / “Fat Chance” from “Sweet’ 17 Singles”

Another month, another single from our tireless Twin Peaks. This time the A-side is “Come For Me,” a sun-soaked summer kiss off led by Clay and the B-side is a stripped down Townes-esque pick from Cadien. Have we mentioned how much fun we’re having releasing these things? Because we’re having so much fun. Anyway, catch the band on the road with Spoon this month. Dates in the tour section, as usual.

Monk Parker announces new album “Crown of Sparrows”

Meet Monk Parker. He’s responsible for one of our favorite records in as long as we can remember. It’s called Crown of Sparrows, and we’re lucky enough to release it on Grand Jury August 4th. Across its six songs, you might be reminded of the horn-led bombast of Neutral Milk Hotel, the world weariness of Townes Van Zandt or a whiskey-soaked Scott Walker. You can preview a bit of that over on Noisey right now. They’ve just unveiled the song “Gaudy Frame,” which they call “an overwhelming piece of horn-filled country melancholy,” going on to liken it to the aforementioned Neutral Milk Hotel, saying “had Jeff Mangum written a follow-up to In The Aeroplane Over The Sea while sitting half-drunk at an empty bar twenty miles outside of Austin, this could have been its centerpiece, fixation and all.” Pre-order the album now over on iTunes or in our shop here.
