Day Wave announces “Hard to Read EP”, shares first single “Gone”

Today we welcome Oakland, California’s Day Wave to the family. On March 4th, we’ll be releasing Hard To Read EP, the follow-up to the self-released 2015 Headcase EP. The FADER has the first taste of new music, “Gone,” right now. Pre-order the EP on iTunes to get an immediate download of the tune.

Despite building quite the loyal following since its release – KCRW, Stereogum, XMU, and Mark Hoppus(?!!) are all devout fans – the Headcase EP was never available physically. But we at Grand Jury are here to fix that, and have collected both Headcase and the new Hard To Read on a double EP, which will be available in stores on March 4th on both CD and 12″ vinyl. Physical pre-orders will be available soon.

Mothers announce new album “When You Walk a Long Distance You Are Tired”, share first single “Copper Mines”

New song, new pre-order, more tour dates. So much to report in the world of Mothers. This morning, Noisey unveiled “Copper Mines,” a new song from the Athens four-piece’s February 26th LP, When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired.

The album is now available for pre-order. Reserve it on iTunes for $7.99 and immediately receive downloads of “Copper Mines,” and the previously released “It Hurts Until It Doesn’t” and “Too Small For Eyes.” Or if you’d prefer a vinyl copy (yeah, we figured you would…), you can get a limited-edition coke-clear 12″ version in our shop or directly from the band. Features a download of the album with a vinyl-only exclusive called “Accessory Cloud.”

Or, if you’d rather support your local record shop (!!!), you can wait until February 26th and get a version of the album exclusive to independent record stores. That comes on clear green wax, includes the vinyl-only track mentioned above, but also features a zine designed by the band exclusively for the album. It’s limited to 300 pieces, so it’ll probably go fast. Here are pictures. And if you’re unsure of where your local record store is, the folks at Record Store Day have got you covered.

In other news, the band has added dates to their massive tour. Check out our tour section for all of them!

Mothers share new single “It Hurts Until It Doesn’t”

Behold! The new single from Mothers, “It Hurts Until It Doesn’t,” was released yesterday over on Stereogum. The band is spending the next few days in NYC basically playing another show every few hours – plenty of chances to catch them if you’re in town for CMJ.

NYMag’s Vulture had this to say, and we agree: “Mothers is one of the most talked-about up-and-coming acts on this year’s never-ending roster. The lo-fi guitar on “it hurts until it doesn’t” is matched by lead singer Kristine Leschper’s haunting voice, which sounds both plaintive and threatening at the same time. All evidence suggests this quartet from Athens, Georgia, will live up to the hype.”

Seoul – currently in the midst of a lengthy North American tour – just premiered a new video for I Become A Shade stand-out “Real June” over on SPIN. “The icy Montreal indie-poppers in Seoul have a unique ability at conjuring a youthful nostalgia out of delicate synth sweeps and hushed vocals,” says SPIN. “So it’s appropriate that their video for ‘Real June” evokes those teenage salad days.” Watch it above, and check out all the dates below. Avid Dancer shares new single “I Feel It”

This morning, Noisey debuted a brand new single from Avid Dancer. It’s called “I Feel It” and precedes a lengthy fall tour with BØRNS.

Of the song, lead Dancer Jacob Summers told Noisey: “Last summer I was really focused on the idea of stating true and simple things in my songs. I remember sitting down with my guitar, ready to say something honest. I thought about the girl I was dating and how for the first time I truly could feel the love from someone. Undeniably, I could actually feel it. The words ‘I feel it’ came out immediately when I started playing… When I recorded this song, I wanted to sing as openly and honest as I could since the topic was so personally truthful. It’s the most I’ve ever put myself out there in the studio. I wouldn’t keep any vocal take that didn’t make me clench my fists when I sang the chorus. I’ve been excited to release this song since the day I wrote it!”
